MK Builders has worked on a number of projects away from Queenstown and Glenorchy and one of the most innovative small building projects was a home at Endeavour Inlet in the Marlborough Sounds.
Building in the Marlborough Sounds raises serious challenges because of the location’s remoteness and water-only access. To solve the issue, MK Builders took an innovative approach and built a series of small transportable buildings, which were transported by road to Picton and then transported by barge to the final site at the remote Moonlight Bay. The five separate buildings consisted of two double bedrooms, a living room and kitchen block, and two bathrooms.
Once onsite, we placed the buildings on foundations and connected each structure through a series of decks and walkways. Finally, we connected the power and water and the job was done. The interconnecting design easily allows for additional bedrooms to be added later if the owners have the need.
