As a specialist in restoration and heritage building work, MK Builders has been entrusted to carry out work on some of Glenorchy’s most important historic buildings over the years. Two such projects were the restoration of the Glenorchy Library and the Glenorchy church. These buildings may be small, but they represent two of the town’s most significant buildings and are packed with history from the past 150 years.
The Glenorchy church project involved renovation to the interior, including insulation and power points, as well as work to the exterior with the replacement of rotten weatherboards and some re-piling. The building was repainted in its original heritage colours.
MK Builders worked on the Glenorchy library in 2012, giving the quaint building a complete restoration that also included a new paint job. The building is probably the most photographed building in Glenorchy, so the paint job was vital! With both the library and the church being of such importance to the local community, Mike and his team were careful to take care at every stage.
